CUUEG Research Projects
As a University diving club some of our members combine diving with research projects. Over more than fifty years CUUEG has run projects covering marine archaeology, marine biology and diver physiology. You can read more about past projects here. There is information about current projects you can get involved with below. If you have an idea for a new project (even if you aren't a diver yourself) come along and have a chat with us - we're always interested in new ideas.
Marine Archaeology
Last year the club had a very interesting talk from the Nautical Archaeology Society (NAS).
Some club members have been participating in The Shipwreck Project, based in Weymouth, you can find a report from a typical trip here. The project is organised by Weymouth skipper Grahame Knott, and is investigating and attempting to identify potential wrecks detected by sonar in the Weymouth area.
Marine Biology
We have also had a talk by Seasearch, about their work running marine life surveys off the Norfolk coast.
We are currently planning a project to map the chalk reef at Sherbourne.
